FALL DEMOLITION DERBY

September 20, 2008

Gates Open - 10:00 a.m.

Registration - noon

Derby Time - 5:00 p.m.

General Admission - $8.00

Entry Fee - $100 per car (large cars)

Pit Admission - $10 (driver & one pit crew free)

$5,000 TO WIN LARGE CAR FEATURE

If 100 Cars not registered, payouts will be as follows:

  •  All drivers must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
  •  Each driver must fill out an entry form and sign release.  Driver must provide complete address and show driver’s license at sign in.  Pit person must also sign release.  Driver and one pit person will receive a free pit pass.  Pit passes will be available to anyone 17 and older wishing to enter pit area for $10.00.
  • Absolutely no one under the age of 17 will be allowed in pit area.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Drivers are responsible for pit person and any family member in pit area.  If any problems, driver will be disqualified and everyone associated will be escorted from the grounds.  NO REFUNDS!
  • Track officials, drivers and tow personnel only on track at any time.  Any pit person or family member on track will cause immediate disqualification and removal from grounds.
  • Car and driver qualify for final event.  NO CAR OR DRIVER SUBSTITITION!
  • ABSOLUTELY no drugs or alcoholic  beverages on premises.  Anyone caught with alcohol wil cause immediate disqualification of driver and you will be removed from grounds.  This is a family event.
  • JUDGES DECISION WILL BE FINAL!
  • Rules  apply to all classes.  Powder puff included.
  • Drivers must attend drivers meeting prior to start of event.  If you do not attend, you will not participate in event.
  • All drivers must supply their own car.  Only one entry per person per class.
  • We have the right to reject any and all entries.
  • Cars must be removed from grounds on the day of the event.  The Mason County Fairgrounds, Fair Board and event personnel are NOT responsible for damage or theft.  Any car left on the grounds will become the property of the Mason County Fair.
  • All rules will be followed by everyone.  Any person not following any and all rules will be disqualified and escorted from grounds.
  • You will have two chances to pass inspection.  No refunds to cars failing inspection or NO shows
  • RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.  If you do not see it here, it does not mean it can be done.  CALL FIRST.
  • $100 protest fee.  Any protest MUST be done ½ hour before first heat.
  • Top 3 cars will be reinserted before any prize money is given out.
  • MUST bring driver’s license to collect any winnings.

TYPE OF CAR:

  • Any American made hard top car or station wagon is allowed.  NO imperials, hearses, limousines, or AMC’s.
  • 104” wheel base or less for 4 cylinder class.

PREPARATION OF CAR:

  • All glass, plastic, pot metal, chrome, door handles, mirrors and fiberglass must be removed.
  • All flammable materials inside of car must be removed.
  • Driver’s door may be padded for safety.
  • No reinforcements other than what is specified in these rules.
  •  ABSOLUTELY no welding on frame.
  • Bar behind seat will be allowed.  Bar can be no more than 5” OD.  Bar must be mounted no more than 6” behind seat and must be at least 12” from floor.  A 6”x 6” plate may be used to mount bar.  An overhead bar will be allowed but can only be welded to top of bar behind seat.
  • A bar may be placed in dashboard and down both doors.  NO up or down kickers will be allowed.
  • All bodies must be mounted on stock frames.  NO frame swaps.
  • No pre-bending of body will be allowed
  • No tucking o r pitching of frame will be allowed.
  • Doors MUST be painted white.  Car number must be on both doors and roof of car and must be at lease 12 inches.  MUST be done to run!

RUNNING:

  • Drivers must wear seatbelt, helmet and eye protection at all times.  Helmet must remain on durinr event.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Driver must remain in car until told by a track official you may leave.
  • You will have two minutes to make AGGRESSIVE contact.  NO SANDBAGGING!  You will be disqualified.
  • Boundaries must be observed.  NO HOT RODDING in pit area.  This will result in disqualification.
  • No hitting of driver’s door.  If intentional, you will be immediately disqualified.  If unintentional, you will receive two warnings, third time and you will be disqualified.  DO NOT use driver’s door as a shield, thie will get you disqualified.
  • Cars must have working brakes at all times.
  • If driver’s door comes open during event, you will be disqualified.
  • If fire is extinguished, you are disqualified.

TIRES:  

  • Dot APPROVED TIRES ONLY.  No agricultural or studded tires allowed.  No screwing tires to rims.  Tires can be doubled.
  • Valve stem protectors may be used.  Maximum of 15” on big cars and 14” on small cars.

ENGINES, TRANSMITTISONS AND REARENDS:

  • Any power train combination may be used.  Motor must be mounted within 5” of original mounting.  Mounts may be welded or chained only to existing bolts.  May use 3x5 ¼” plate to mount motor ONLY.  This will be enforced.
  • If a hole is cut in firewall, it must be covered to protect driver from fire hazard.
  • Air cleaners must be in place.
  • Transmission and oil coolers may be used.  Use only copper, metal or hydraulic line.  Lines and coolers must be covered.
  • ½ ton, 5 lug rear ends may be used.  NO ¾ ton rear ends.

FRAME:

  • ABSOLUTELY no welding or modification of frames.  DO NOT PLATE RUST.
  • Body mount bolts may be changed.  Mounts must have factory bushing in place.  Maximum of 5/8” all thread and washers not to exceed 3”.  Washer MUST be inside of frame NOT all the way thru the bottom.
  • NO extra body mounts will be allowed.

SUSPENSION:

  • Coil springs may be replaced with leaf springs.  No more than 7 leaf’s per side with 5 clamps per side (2 front and 3 back).  Leaf’s must be staggered 1 ½” to 2” front and back.  Leaf’s must be under rear end.  Leaf’s may not be wider than 2 3/4 “ and ¼” thick.
  • A 4”x4”x4” hanger may be welded to bottom of frame to hook front of leaf.
  • Car must have working shackles.
  • No spaces in front springs.  Do not reinforce tie rods.  CAR MUST HAVE BOUNCE.

HOODS, TRUNK LIDS & GATES:

  •  Trunks, hoods, and gates must be open for inspection.  Trunks, hoods and gates may be wired or chained shut in 6 places.  Maximum of 9 gauge wire.
  • Hood, trunks and gates may be wired around bumper in two places.  This will county as 2 of your 6 places.
  • Hood must have a 12” hole cut over top of carburetor.
  • Hood braces may be bolted back together only if hood has been cut for headers or over carburetor.

RADIATORS:

  • MUST remain in stock position or be removed.

GAS TANKS:

  • Original tank must be removed.  Boat tank or fuel cell must be securely mounted behind driver’s seat.  Tank must be covered.  5 gallon tank maximum.
  • Gas lines must be metal or rubber.  NO PLASTIC.
  •  Electric fuel pumps may be used but must e secured and covered.  A red shut off switch must be mounted and visible to officials.  Shut off must be mounted in battery area.

BATTERY:

  • Battery must be removed from stock position and place in passenger front floor board.  Battery must be securely mounted and covered.  Only one battery, any size may be used.

BUMPERS:

  • No home- made bumpers allowed.
  • Bumpers can be welded to sheet metal by welding 5” and skipping 5”.
  • Bumper height of 22” from bottom of bumper to ground.
  • Bumper shocks, brackets and bumper can be welded to frame.  NO ADDED METAL.

WELDING:

  • Driver’s door may be welded solid with a 3” strap maximum.  All other doors may be welded by welding 5” and skipping 5”.
  • No seam welding inside or out.
  • ABSOLUTELY no welding on frame other than what is allowed for bumpers.
  • Do not weld solid thinking you can cut day of event.  Remember only two chances to pass inspection.

RELEASE:

In Consideration for being allowed to participate in the demolition derby at the Mason County Fairgrounds, the undersigned agrees to release, indemnify and hold harmless the Mason County Fair,  the Mason County Fair Board, their officers, agents or employees, any and all promoters and officials from any and all liability and damages in any way resulting from the undersigneds participation in said demmolition derby.
